Ronald The Milking Robot lives and works at Three Gates Farm in Shalfleet on the Isle of Wight. A new milking system allows the pedigree herd to be milked 24 hours a day on demand and allows each cow to be voluntarily milked. The whole process is streamed live to the farm’s Dairy Deli shop via the ‘Three Gates Farm Moo Cam’ and he even has his own ‘Ronald the Milking Robot’ facebook page! The live streaming also shows the calving pen and altogether offers an opportunity for the public to see far more of farm life and understand the linkages between agriculture and local food products.
The Project
The brief was to produce an illustration to give the milking machine a personality to help promote school visits to the farm.
